Abstract

Our heartiest congratulations to Yang Berbahagia Professor Datuk Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq, President of Multimedia University, on being conferred the award darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (D.P.S.M) which carries the title “Datuk”. The award was conferred by the Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Melaka, Tun Datuk Seri Utama Mohd. Khalil bin Yaakob on 15 October 2016, on the occasion of His Excellency’s 78th birthday. Professor Datuk Dr. Ahmad Rafi was born in Peringgit, Melaka. He is a Creative Multimedia expert who has been involved for over 26 years in the industry as well as the education sector at the national and international levels. Trained as an architect, Professor Datuk Dr. Ahmad Rafi is an alumnus of the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow, United Kingdom. Over the years, he has been entrusted with a number of key responsibilities, such as Vice President (Academic) of MMU, Dean of MMU’s Faculty of Creative Multimedia, and Deputy Rector (Academic) at the Academy of Arts National Heritage (ASWARA). In the industrial sector, he is well regarded for having spearheaded the development of the creative content industry framework for industry players and professional, and was appointed as Chairman 2 of the Creative Content Industry Guild (CCIG). To date he is still active as a technical and professional jury for journals, proceedings, contests and grants at national and international levels. These include the International Journal of Automation in Construction, Open House, Educational Technology and Society, Computer Games Technology, Engineering Education, Conference CAADRIA (Asia and Australasia), CAAD Futures, eCAADe (Europe), G-CAD (USA), ASCAAD (Middle East ), Cybergames International (Australia), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia) grant, Ministry of Higher Education’s Centre of Excellence in Higher Education (HiCOE) and grants, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and many more. We are extremely proud that his leadership has been recognised with this award. Please join us in congratulating him, and let us extend him our fullest support in leading MMU to greater heights.
