Abstract
In this paper, an adaptive routing metric (ARM) is presented for wireless mesh network (WMN) which considers link asymmetry and link interference for efficient route selection from source to destination node. Link asymmetry which arises from the difference in forward and reverse delivery ratio has often been neglected by Expected Transmission Count (ETX)-based routing metric which can lead to inaccurate estimation of link loss ratio. Moreover, channel contention interference which obligates the station to wait until the channel is free to transmit, has not been considered in most of the conventional routing metrics. As load increases, these parameters play an important role for selecting right route as well as on overall network performance. Simulation results obtained shows that our proposed ARM metric outperform other conventional routing metrics in terms of throughput and end-to-end delay.
