Sani, Rozana (1997) Multimedia University to get more assistance: [Computimes, , 2* Edition]. New Straits Times. 01. Full text not available from this repository.Abstract
The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC) will solicit the assistance of more foreign academic bodies to assist in laying the foundations for the setting up of the Multimedia University. Its executive chairman Tan Sri Dr Othman Yeop Abdullah said negotiations are currently going on with Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to help fine-tune the university's academic programmes and second their academic workforce. "We will be drawing quite a number of people from the industries as well to contribute and assist us - it is a private university," Othman said, adding that the Multimedia University needs more teachers as the aim is to have an ideal teacher-student ratio of one to 12. The university, to be located at the heart of the Multimedia Super Corridor's (MSC) "intelligent" city - Cyberjaya - will be taking in its first batch of students come October. It will be modelled after universities in the United States and Canada.
