Abstract

Precision Agriculture (PA) employs technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Big Data analytics to improve efficiency, optimize resources, and enhance sustainability. However, these advancements introduce cybersecurity risks, including data breaches, ransomware, and system disruptions, threatening operational integrity and food security. This paper compares major cybersecurity frameworks applicable to PA, including NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF), ISO/IEC 27001, Critical Security Controls (CIS Controls), Agricultural Cybersecurity Framework (Agri-Secure), and IoT Security Frameworks. The evaluation considers scalability, cost, integration, and coverage of PA-specific threats. Case studies from large farms to small cooperatives illustrate implementation outcomes. Results show that framework suitability varies by operation size and technological adoption. The study emphasizes the need for tailored cybersecurity strategies, ongoing adaptation, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure the resilience and reliability of precision agriculture systems.
