Abstract
This study evaluates the knowledge structure of immigrant entrepreneurship and its impact on the socio-economy. As immigrant entrepreneurship has become a concern with its rapid development, scholars have focused on this niche entrepreneurship field. Through a science mapping technique using bibliometric analysis, the current and future trends of immigrant entrepreneurship were analyzed using bibliographic coupling and co-word analysis. Three themes emerged from bibliographic coupling analysis: 1) Women’s immigrant entrepreneurship, 2) Transnational entrepreneurship and 3) Predictors and success factors of immigrant entrepreneurship. Future trends from co-word analysis are associated with 1) The Role of Immigrant Entrepreneurship in Employment Creation, 2) Social Networks and Embeddedness in Immigrant Entrepreneurship, and 3) Leveraging Social Capital for International Growth. Understanding immigrant entrepreneurship from the host countries’ socio-economic context and immigrant entrepreneurs’ talent provides crucial insight into how immigrant entrepreneurs contribute to economic development and growth. This study presents a science mapping on immigrant entrepreneurship and its future research agenda.
