Abstract

The ubiquitous presence of optical communication networks in the form of core and access network with an imperative to flex its frequency grid from the traditional wavelength division multiplexing to accommodate growing bandwidth requirements of varied granularity has originated more complex routing and spectrum assignment problems. The paradigm Elastic Optical Networks has become possible with the enabling technologies such as Bandwidth Variable Transceivers(BVTs) and flexible frequency grid. Recent decade has been witnessing researches to minimize scarce spectrum resources. In this work, we propose algorithms to result in design of networks with a thrust to minimize spectrum slots.
