Teh, Boon Heng (2016) Sustainable Performance Measurements Model for Malaysian Electronic and Electrical Companies. PhD thesis, Multimedia University. Full text not available from this repository.Abstract
A growing awareness of environment and social responsibility issues is currently happening. Therefore, a company's excellent performance is no longer judged purely on financial matters but has to be expanded to include environmental and social perspectives, which is called sustainable performance. Hence, there is a persistent call for a comprehensive sustainable measurements (SPMs) model. The adoption of sustainable performance is already in place in developed countries such as Europe, the US and the UK, but it is relatively low among developing nations such as Malaysia. This study formulates and SPMs model for Malaysian electronics and electrical (E&E) companies as their subject to intense scrutiny from developed counterparts in terms of environmental and social compliance. This study develops a comprehensive SPMs model comprising of three components: (1) factors influencing SPMs indicators, (2) the influence of SPMs indicators upon the outcomes of SPMs, and (3) the influence of environmental & social outcomes upon the economic outcome, aiming to promote sustainable practices among E&E companies.
