Abstract

This research paper explores the impacts of workplace happiness such as (job satisfaction, work-life balance, support from management, and collegial relationships) on academic staff performance. Drawing on a quantitative approach, the study utilized a sample of academic staff. Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis, and the findings revealed that all four factors significantly impact academic staff performance. The findings align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). By enhancing job satisfaction, work-life balance, and support from management, institutions can improve the performance and well-being of academic staff, thereby contributing to higher quality education and a more productive academic environment. The research underscores the need for educational institutions to implement supportive policies and practices that foster a balanced work environment, thus directly supporting the achievement of SDG 4. Additionally, it highlights the role of effective management in creating decent work conditions, reflecting the principles of SDG 8. This paper contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence on the critical factors affecting academic staff performance in a university setting. It also offers practical implications for educational institutions, highlighting the need for effective management practices, supportive work environments, and policies that promote work-life balance. Future research should explore these factors in different academic contexts and industries to validate and expand upon these findings.
