This study, “Breaking the 9 to 5 Mold: How Gen Z Redefines Job Satisfaction” provides a comprehensive overview of the influence of four independent variables, namely flexible work practices, work-life balance, compensation, and career development on the dependent variable, job satisfaction among Gen Z employees. This study aims to address gaps in literature on how Gen Z specifically redefines job satisfaction by exploring how the interplay of the four independent variables collectively contributes to the job satisfaction of Gen Z employees. This study aims to bridge the gap between evolving workforce expectations of Gen Z and traditional, rigid workplace models. This study adopts a quantitative, descriptive-correlational approach to study the relationship between the variables. A total of 136 valid responses were collected by distributing a structured questionnaire online using convenience sampling. Data analysis encompassed descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression using SPSS. All instruments showed acceptable to excellent reliability when tested using Cronbach’s Alpha. Overall, Pearson’s correlation supported all four hypotheses of this study with career development having the highest correlation with job satisfaction (r = .54, p < .01). However, multiple linear regression only supported three out of four hypotheses, concluding that compensation does not have a significant relationship with job satisfaction. Career development has the highest possibility to affect job satisfaction of Gen Z employees (β = .30, t = 3.33, p = .00). Despite having limitations in terms of generalisability and conclusions on causality or long-term trends, this study offers some implications that act as a roadmap for employers to align their human resource tactics with growing expectations of the Gen Z workforce. It is recommended that future research includes a more diverse sample that includes potentially influential variables, and adopts a longitudinal or a mixedmethods approach.
