Despite the proliferation of digital transformation since the Covid-19 pandemic, the understanding of digital transformation and its’ impact on employee work performance on Malaysian Small Medium Enterprise (SME) companies have yet to be fully addressed and studied. This research aims to study the relationship of digital transformation on employee performance as it serves as the digital transformation framework for SME businesses. This study aims to shed some light on how digital transformation can improve employee performance and contribute to a sustainable competitive advantage. This study will also provide better understanding of the relationship between individual dimensions of digital transformation (customer service experience, collaborator Capabilities, process, and business model) and employee performance dimensions (task performance, contextual performance, and counterproductive behaviour) within an SME telco company in Malaysia. Driven by a descriptive and analysis research method, this quantitative study analysed the data using SPSS and SmartPLS through the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to observe the relationship of digital transformation on employee performance in the SME case company in Malaysia. This research breaks down the broad relationship into more focused research, exploring how the specific aspect of digital transformation influences different levels of employee performance. This study assessed and evaluated the overall impact of digital transformation initiatives on employee performance in an SME telco company in Malaysia and it also aims to provide further understanding of the net effect of digital transformation on employee performance within the specific context. The findings and results of this study can be used to develop policies and industry guidelines not only for SME companies in Malaysia but also replicated into other company types and for different countries.
