Abstract

—In this paper, a genetic algorithm (GA) is used to optimize the performance of multiband fractal antenna with complex geometry, which is designed by using visual basic scripting; manually designing antennas with complex geometries, such as fractal antennas can be time-consuming for researchers. In this work, we propose the application of the scripting tool to design the Sierpinski carpet fractal antenna with advanced iteration; the antenna has a maximum gain of 27.21 dBi and has six frequency bands of 2.06 GHz, 4.42 GHz, 5.07 GHz, 6.47 GHz, 8.25 GHz and 9.80 GHz with good return loss of -26.7 dB, -22.27 dB, -27.28 dB, -23.73 dB, -17.20 dB and -26.46 respectively, Simulations showed promising results in terms of gain and multiband characteristics suitable for several applications.
