Abstract
One of the main challenges that the world is currently facing is the shortage of clean water supply. Among the sources of this is the contamination of water supply which negatively impacted the long-term supply of clean water. One of the ways to measure the clarity and quality of water is by measuring the turbidity of the water. Turbidity is a measure of cloudiness of any fluid that may be caused by the presence of a considerable number of particles that are usually not visible to the normal human eyes. On the other hand, one technology that has emerged as a significant technology is the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is used to connect physical objects to the internet to acquire and exchange data with little interaction from human beings. IoT can be used in water management systems where the installation of intelligent water sensors can be used as remote data collection method. The aim of this project is to develop a prototype that implements IoT technology to measure turbidity in water monitoring system. This project is using simple and low-cost sensors to meet the purpose. The system was then tested at three different places. Several experimental tests were carried out to assess the performance of the produced prototype. It was shown that the system was able to detect the various levels of turbidity at different times of the day.
