Abstract

The recently introduced Dual Coprime Frequency Diverse Array-Multiple Input Multiple Output (DCFDA-MIMO) array configuration employs a unique setup with a coprime number of transmitters and receivers, as well as coprime frequency offsets between transmit and receive arrays to achieve improved localization performance. However, the capabilities of DCFDA have not been fully explored. In this paper, we investigate the dual coprime FDA-MIMO design to enhance horizon scanning resolution and accuracy compared to the existing array structure, i.e., FDA-MIMO. Note that the DCFDAMIMO demonstrates improved target localization capabilities with an added advantage of detecting more targets than that of the existing traditional techniques. Furthermore, it exhibits significantly reduced degradation near the array edges. The results have been validated through simulations using Monte Carlo Methods
