Laser cutting is a widely used method for cutting various materials, including complex shapes and difficult to-cut materials. Laser machining is always the first method chosen to do cutting process because laser cutting is very flexible method, and it can cut almost of difficult shape. Heat affected zone (HAZ) is one of the most important characteristics to check the quality of the cutting in laser cutting machining process. Smaller HAZ is the need for better quality in cutting. The most optimum combination of parameters to produce the higher cutting quality is still unknown. This research presents the study of CO2 laser cutting on acrylic material and analyzes the effect of multiple parameters on the cut quality. There are two cut qualities which are heat affected zone and dimensional accuracy. Cutting experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of parameters on the acrylic. The cutting process was carried out with three types of input current (46, 48, 50A), cutting speed (6,8,10 mm/s), gap between nozzle and material (6,7,8 mm), material thickness (3 mm) and circular cutting diameter (15 mm). The results imply that cutting speed and input current are important variables determining cutting quality. These findings contribute to understanding the optimal combination of parameters for achieving higher cutting quality in laser cutting of acrylic material.
