Abstract
Sagittal balance analysis is widely used to evaluate spinal pathology for disease severity and pre-operative planning. Traditionally this is done by medical practitioner by manually locating the landmarks and then the angles between the landmarks are measured. The measurements are frequently assisted by computer software. However, this is a time-consuming process and subject to human factors like the level of expertise. The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) offers a promising solution that allow automation and more objective analysis. Therefore, this study investigates the application of AI for sagittal balance analysis. The findings show that limited works had been reported in this area. Nonetheless, the results show promising performance. The acceptance challenges of AI solution are also presented here.
