Abstract
Encoders are motion control feedback system that generally consist of 2 sinusoidal signals 90 degrees apart. Parameters that affect an encoder sensor performance 1) Offset mismatch between signals 2) Amplitude mismatch between signals 3) Phase mismatch between the two signals A solution is proposed to improve the phase error of the two sinusoidal signals by summing and subtracting the signals using analog circuit blocks that are already commonly used in an optical encoder sensor. The proposed method does not need significant overhead in design and real estate of the sensor.
