Abstract
There is a need to improve thermal efficiencies of existing power cycles to improve resource usage and management; and to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases from main power cycles. To achieve this, applications of Waste Heat Recovery via the Organic Rankine Cycle have been studied, however the ORC relies on working fluids that have high Global Warming Potential values, which will add on to the emissions of greenhouse gases. However, WHR can still be applied when we replace the ORC with the Stirling Cycle as it is a cycle that, theoretically, only relies on temperature differences for the cycle to occur. This study investigates the application of the Stirling Cycle as a method of Waste Heat Recovery on the Diesel Cycle.
