Abstract

The core of radar is a UWB impulse radar transceiver SoC, X2. A UWB transceiver module with some essential components to provide the necessary working conditions of the SoC has been designed and fabricated. The UWB transceiver module is paired with an analogue frontend which is built with DC blocks, PA, LNA and antennas. A firmware that is running on a microcontroller has been written to handle low level controls. The microcontroller is able to communicate with X2 and a PC. An algorithm has been developed and running on a software on PC. The software on the PC will initiate UWB impulses transmission and reception, fetch the measured radar frames and process the data to identify the presence of an object within the radar frame.
