Abstract

Given the increase in the popularity of cryptocurrency investment all over around the world where some countries started accepting and regulating cryptocurrency. Malaysian generally are lagging as cryptocurrency adoption in general and adoption by Malaysia investors is still in its infancy period (Ku-Mahamud et al., 2018; Yeong et al., 2019; Yussof & Al-Harthy, 2018). According to a study conducted by Colbert (2017), there are 26 Bitcoin-accepting merchants and 2,000 Bitcoin users in Malaysia as of May 2017. Thus, when compared to the world's 18 million cryptocurrency users, this is considered low. The adoption of cryptocurrency is still low although we are going towards digitalisation and towards a cashless nation. Purpose-The objective of this study is to examine the adoption level of cryptocurrency among investors in Malaysia. Besides that, this study will identify the factors that impact cryptocurrency adoption among investors in Malaysia and in accordance with that, development of a framework.
