Abstract

Despite the high adoption of project management, project delivery results are still below expectation. While project performance has been increasing globally, the project failure rate is still high. Productivity in the Malaysia construction industry is among the lowest across sectors and fall far than global benchmarks. The discouraging statistic about project management success prompted more studies on the determinant factors behind successful project delivery. Purpose – This research aims to document and evaluate the gaps in the inter-disciplinary collaboration's expectations and capabilities in managing deliveries of diverse components from multiple stakeholders, using the construction projects as the study environment. The objective of the research is to develop a framework for successful collaborative project management within the context of the Malaysian construction industry. Determining factors and determinants of collaborative project management success are expected to provide a body of knowledge to the construction projects to address bad performance in Malaysia's construction industry.
