Abstract

Entrepreneurs and organizations have been utilizing relational database as their data management system. This is because relational database offers reliability, simple indexing to organize data and maintaining data integrity by setting up defined constraints. Over the years, researchers developed a more versatile way of handling the data by using XML technology. Flexibility and ability to transform data into other formats without any loss of data attracts the researcher and community to propose various mapping approaches to transform XML into relational database. This paper reviews on the recent techniques, advantages and disadvantages of existing model-based mapping approaches.
