Abstract

The Eleventh Plan provides a crucial step for Malaysia to make important shifts in policy matters and the Green management growth will act as the game changer and it is not merely a “stand-alone strategic thrust, but a development trajectory” with focussed improvements in the area of quality of the environment. Integration between ISO14000 Environmental Management System and Quality Management is an imperative requirement for the manufacturing industries to excel into an advanced economy to unleash productive performance. The real benefits of integration are not realized by manufacturing sectors as there is lack of a integrated model and hence this research addresses this problem based on the research gap identified in 11th Malaysian plan towards valuing the environment. The objective is to test the holistic IQEMS model to suit Malaysian needs as Malaysians protect and conserve the environment as it is an antecedent for a performance led economic growth especially after the “ISO14000 Environmental management systems”. It will be a cross-sectional survey of Manufacturing firms and intent to collect atleast 350 samples using stratified proportionate sampling. They will be collected from manufacturing companies from six states of Malaysia. Questionnaire will be distributed and “Structural Equation Modeling will be used to analyse” the data. The output will be an effective integrated model of environment and quality and the advantages can be reflected in the firm’s competitive position. This IQEMS model thus focuses on three strategic thrusts viz., pursuing green growth , Strengthening infrastructure to support economic expansion and to address the “end-to-end needs of the nation”. Environmental and quality practices increases the adoption of energy-efficient products and climate change adaptation measures will protect the nation and its development gains
