Abstract

On the 25th January 2016, Multimedia University (MMU) has marked another historic milestone when its new spanking third campus MMU Nusajaya was officially launched by YAB Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Chief Minister of Johor. The launch has further cements MMU’s reputations as a game changer for the nation. This was the second time we have earned such a major recognition – the first was when MMU was invited to open a campus in Cyberjaya. Also present to witness the launch were Tun Zaki Tun Azmi, Chancellor of MMU; Tan Sri Dato’ Ir. Muhammad Radzi Hj Mansor, Pro Chancellor of MMU; Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sulaiman Mahbob, Chairman of TM, who is also Chairman of MMU; Prof. Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq, Vice President (Academic) MMU; Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Daley, Dean of School of Cinematic Arts (SCA), University of Southern California (USC) and more than 200 invited guests. Expressing his excitement at the launch, Mohamed Khaled said; “The campus will usher in a new age of creativity in Malaysia, due to its creation of new manpower needed to make high quality cinematic content. I am fully confident that MMU Nusajaya will serve as an engine of talent’s growth in producing the world’s most distinguished animators, scholars, teachers, writers, directors, producers, cinematographers, editors, sound experts and industry executives.” The campus is a purpose-build campus to specifically offer the Bachelor of Cinematic Arts programme (CAP), an exclusive offering of MMU’s faculty of Cinematic Arts (FCA). Commencing operations in 2014, CAP wa developed in collaboration with the SCA to groom a new generation of visual storytellers in Malaysia as well as the region. Occupying an area of 45,000 sq. ft., the new campus can accommodate 500 students, and offers a complete array of state-of-the-art facilities for its students, including a digital library/media resource centre, gallery, post production laboratories, shooting stage, recording studio and workshops.
