Abstract

This paper presents a technique to reduce Cyclic Prefix (CP) length for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) in multipath fading channels. To reduce the CP length, a Time-domain Equalizer (TEQ), using long training OFDM symbols in the preambles, is used immediately after the channel. It can cancel the residual Inter Symbol Interference (ISI) and Inter Carrier Interference (ICI) caused by the CP length being shorter than the Channel Impulse Response (CIR). This method reduces size of the CP, and consequently leading to system performance improvement.
