Abstract

This study is an attempt to examine some attitudes toward the concept of money and how these attitudes influence materialistic behaviour among undergraduate students in two universities in the Klang Valley. This topic is important in that almost everybody, especially undergraduates view money as one of the most important things in life. They believe that money helps them to live a comfortable life, develop and express their personality to others, and show their power, status and success through, among other ways, their choice and use of consumer goods. This study concentrated on three main money attitudes dimensions: power-prestige, anxiety, and distrust of money.
