Abstract

This study employs ab initio methodology to examine Zirconium diboride (ZrB2) under high pressures, revealing its thermodynamic stability and consistent hexagonal lattice structure. Elastic properties improve with pressure, indicating enhanced mechanical and thermal characteristics. The research addresses the scarcity of systematic analyses of ZrB2 under high pressures and suggests its potential for superior wear resistance at high temperatures, positioning it as a promising material for hypersonic flight and rocket propulsion systems
