Abstract

— Microstrip planar antenna in industrial, scientific and medical purpose is being widely used due to compact structure, performance and suitability in diverse applications. In this research, A single-band microstrip planar antenna with a pair of F-shaped slots is presented in this paper for 2.45 GHz applications. The antenna possesses a small size of 20 ×20.9 mm2 and is designed on a 1.5 mm-thick FR4 substrate. The antenna is designed using Keysight ADS (Advanced Design System) software. Taking a new layout, the top layer patch consists of a rectangular patch where a horizontal double F-shaped slot is placed, and 20 × 2.2 mm2 rectangular bottom layer. To have the desired working band centered at 2.45 GHz, two F-shaped slots have been inserted within a square patch, while the ground plane makes a partial one. The performances of the planned antenna have been tested using the advanced design system (ADS). the operating mechanism of the planned antenna, its current distribution at 2.45 GHz is depicted in Fig. 2. It is revealed that the current flows along the feedline-middle of the double F-shaped slots and pass it to the left side and right side that specifies the path of the current. A low current concentration has been observed on the lower portion of the double F-shaped slot. The current distribution the antenna resonates at around 2.45 GHz and it is due to two F-shaped slots. The S11, current distribution, antenna power, gain and efficiency, and 3D radiation are investigated, and the results reveal that the planned antenna is very suitable for 2.45 GHz wireless communication applications
