Abstract

Purpose of the study • In Malaysia, low income (B40) and middle income (M40) groups are currently struggling with the rising petrol price. When petrol price rises, the prices of goods and services in the country will go up following the rise in transportation and delivery costs (Federation of Malaysian Consumer Associations (FOMCA), 2019). • Since the Malaysia government are currently creating awareness and preparing the public for the implementation of the national Petrol Subsidy Program, there is an urgent need of conducting this research to determine the effectiveness of Petrol Subsidy Program in Malaysia to ensure that petrol subsidy is given only to the deserving B40 and M40 groups.
