The purpose of the research was to examine the effectiveness of instructional 3D video based on cognitive conflict strategy to overcome misconceptions among primary school students in mathematics in the geometry branch. This study will be conducted depending on a mixed approach; a qualitative approach and quantitate approach. The interviews in this research were designed to capture experiences and opinions of geometry teachers’ perspectives on students’ misconceptions. Interviews gave accurate and deep background about misconceptions in mathematics courses and geometry in particular. Interviews provided valuable information such as the extent of misconceptions prevalence, the potential causes of misconceptions, the potential risks of misconceptions, strategies of identifying misconceptions, strategies of overcoming misconceptions and the role of technology which are used in this field. The interviews included 40 mathematics teachers who have experience teaching geometry courses at the primary school level. Interviews were conducted individually at convenient time and locations, and videotaped. The interviews included thirty-two open-ended questions using ‘Google Meet’ application. A quasi-experimental method was used in the study to examine the effectiveness of instructional 3D video in overcoming misconceptions. 120 students in 4 classes were selected for the study was chosen as a control group (n=60), and an experiment group (n=60). A T-test group has been used to make sure both groups are equivalent. While instructional 3D videos were used to teach the geometry branch in mathematics subject to the experimental group, traditional teaching methods were used to teach the same subject to the control group.
