Abstract

Background - The growing interest of microchannels heat transfer enhancement in the recent decades has led to the idea of using nanofluids as coolants. The observed nanofluids heat transfer anomality is proposed to be due to particle migration. Purpose – This study investigates the effect of particle migration mechanisms, namely Brownian diffusion and thermophoresis on a nanofluid flow in an asymmetrically heated microchannel heatsink, modelled as a porous medium Design/methodology/approach – In this work, the coupled governing nanoparticle concentration, nanofluid momentum equation and thermal energy equations are solved numerically. Findings – The fluid velocity gradient in the proximity of the heated wall becomes steeper due to a weaker flow resistance with a decreasing
