Abstract

Maritime security is an important aspect to international trade. Almost 90% of Malaysia’s trade uses the oceans. There are many challenges that predominates the activities. One of the major challenges is piracy. Piracy has been occurring for many years and it af ects profitability. Other major issues include illegal traf icking of humans, exotic pets, and narcotics. The lure of money blinds the eyes of traders. The supply chain of such activities unfortunately lies among the SEA countries. These illegal activities have given the countries a bad reputation and af ect their credibility. More enforcements are needed to regain the confidence among investors.
