Abstract

Commonly, most people especially teenagers nowadays do not have a high awareness of their Internet privacy. This is due to lack of cybersecurity knowledge to protect their data and sensitive information. Although there are existing security systems to protect user’s online information, there are many attacks to bypass in order to steal user information. Teenagers have become an easy target on the Internet. In this paper, an educational tool is designed to provide necessary basic cybersecurity and privacy knowledge targeted at teenagers. The aim is to create a mobile learning platform to educate the teenager towards Safe Internet. To increase user retention in using the learning materials, the app design has to be attractive, colorful and fun. There are three features available, namely Learning Materials, Quizzes and Games. The learning materials comprises three fundamental issues for instance cybersecurity, network and program security, network privacy and data protection. There are two quizzes available currently to evaluate user’s understanding after learning. Total scores will be computed for the number of correct answers to indicate user proficiency in Safe Internet. Last but not least, hands-on games are designed to assess user’s practical skills in using the Internet. The experimental results of 35 respondents show that more than 50% of them are satisfied and think that the proposed educational tool is effective, learnable and interactive.
