Abstract

Many organizations rely on appropriate project management, and communication management is a primary area for project realizations. There is consistently high project failure rate in the IT industry, and past studies mention communication as a key factor for project success or failure. Hence, this research on the role of communication in IT project success empirically endured. The Media Synchronicity Theory (MST) and the Triple C model are adapted in this study, where the characteristics of project communication and project success are identified, followed by the assessment of the relationship between project communication and project success. The impact of communication performance and project management on project success is established. Questionnaire data from 127 respondents were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. Empirical evidence on the role of communication in IT project success contributes to the body of knowledge and industry of project management
