Abstract

This thesis is based on a case study of Bousted Heavy Industry Corporation (BHIC) through a strategic analysis approach to determine how it can create and sustain competitive advantage in defence industry, especially the defence maritime sector, and through the concept of dual-use technology, in the maritime transport industry. The thesis first introduces the field of defence industry, the problem statement of the study, the purpose of the study, the objectives of the study, the significance of the study, limitations of the study, as well as a brief description of the topics covered in the thesis. This chapter essentially lays out the overall framework through which BHIC will have to identify and implement strategic moves in order to grow, as well as attain and sustain its competitiveness.
