Abstract

TELEKOM Malaysia Berhad has allocated RM600 million for the setting up of the Multimedia University (MMU), the nation's first university dedicated to multimedia and information technology (IT). The MMU will be located on a 200-acre plot of land in Cyberjaya and Telekom Malaysia has awarded the contract to build the campus to MEPS Joint Venture - a consortium comprising Emkay Holdings Sdn Bhd, Projass Engineering Bhd, Eastbourne Corporation Bhd and Shorefield Holdings Sdn Bhd. According to Telekom Malaysia's chief executive officer Datuk Mohamed Said Mohamed Ali, the MMU will be built in two phases. The first includes the completion of 2,000 units of student hostels, the faculty of engineering and IT, staff apartments and lecture facilities by August this year.
